Why BMS is a special place?

Blossom Montessori School was founded by an AMI Montessori-trained guide passionate about creating an authentic Montessori learning community for children. In 2024, our founding team established our unique bilingual English-French community along with a comprehensive and creative curriculum for our supplementary programs.

Bilingual school in the heart of Ottawa

We're not only providing a bilingual environment for children; we're cultivating a community that embodies the synergy of Ottawa's francophone and anglophone cultures. We believe in the power of bilingualism as a symbol of unity in our city. Bilingualism enhances the learning journey, nurturing cognitive development and fostering cultural appreciation. This invaluable skill opens doors to academic and career opportunities in our globally connected world.

Authentic Montessori Education

The name “Montessori” is not protected by any trademark or copyright. Any school or childcare can call themselves a Montessori regardless of whether they offer an authentic program or not. To protect the integrity of Maria Montessori's work, the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was established by Maria and her son Mario in 1929. AMI upholds rigorous pedagogical standards envisioned by Maria Montessori herself. Maria Montessori notably referred to her educational approach as "Scientific Education" or "Scientific Pedagogy," not the "Montessori Method." Montessori schools focus on scientific observation of each child, rather than a fixed curriculum, tailoring programs to individual developmental needs and supporting holistic human development. AMI's global pedagogy ensures schools foster intellectual, social, physical, and psychological growth, reflecting Dr. Montessori's legacy as a scientist, anthropologist, activist, and visionary whose educational principles revolutionized the world. Today we offer the best environments and allow our children freedom as we continue to see the limitless potential of each and every human spirit.

  • Casa (3-6 yo)

In the Casa program, we foster independence and self-reliance in children: the focus is on Help Me To Do It By Myself. While working at their own pace, children find purpose and joy with work in areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Culture. In uninterrupted work cycles the children are able to find periods of deep concentration and focus.

  • Elementary (6-12 yo)

In Elementary (Grades 1 to 6), the focus is on Help Me Think By Myself. The student is continuing to become more independent and responsible in their social and academic decisions. They are beginning to see themselves as a small part of a bigger world and this fosters the desire to help others globally in the community.
