To protect the integrity of Maria Montessori's work, the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was established by Maria and her son Mario in 1929. Maria Montessori notably referred to her educational approach as "Scientific Education" or "Scientific Pedagogy," not the "Montessori Method."
